CARD# HPJ-2017-25: Blue Birthday

Hi again! Here is another mixed media card. I made this for Ate Lany. Her birthday will be on the 24th. Well, I went a bit over the top on the flowers, but I can't undo it anymore. She has to bear with it. Heh. It just came out like that. I was only supposed to put in the one light blue inside the frame, but I ended up adhering one after another. It still looks pretty to me though. What do you think?

                                    The card measures 4" x 6 1/4".

I originally wanted to make a tall card which was at least 7 1/2" long, but the main paper that I wanted to use was only 6" so I would have to settle for a smaller version.

Did I tell you before that I looooove distress stains and inks? Gah. They are just so versatile. I love using them on my projects (I should remember adding glass bead gel or Mod Podge first though before putting them in.) 

So how did I make it? I distressed the papers. I adhered the first patterned paper onto the base while I worked on the main patterned paper separately. I stenciled onto the paper with light molding paste. I then stamped some text after it dried. Then I added color to it using distress stains in shades of blue. The background will not be complete without splattering the inks onto the surface. Afterwards, I added the embellishments. I decided against adding glass beads. I glazed the flowers with metallic acrylic paint as a finishing touch before adhering the whole thing onto the base. Oh, I also put in a sticker from my new sticker book for the sentiment.

That was that. Another card done! I'll just put it into one of my acetate boxes later on or on a box with the gift that we'll be giving her as a group. Thanks for looking today! Have a great Sunday!

CARD# HPJ-2017-24: With Love

Hello! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I hope you have an awesome day!

I always make a card for our mom for Mother's Day. Though we will be sending it to her late, I know that she will definitely appreciate it. It will be weird if she does not get any card this year. Heh.

Here it is.

 It measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Do you remember the set of cards I made for our colleagues in the US a a couple of weeks ago? I originally set out to make 20, but I only ended up completing 14 since there were just 14 of them. So there were 6 more which I left alone (This means the background is gessoed, stenciled on and stamped.). I chose the one that somehow fits what I want to do with mommy's card. She loves green so I went with this color.

Since the background is already pre-stamped and stenciled, I only had to color it and add the focal point. What I did was I stamped the flowers onto a piece of white cardstock and fussy cut them. I adhered chipboard on the pieces before finally placing them on the card. 

The card does not look that good in the photos but it is really pretty when you see it in person. It is one of my favorite recent projects.

CARD# HPJ-2017-23: Enjoy

Hi there! It's the weekend again. How time flies! Here's a card I made last weekend for a friend's birthday. 

I have hoarded a couple of Rosie's Studio paper pads from National Book Store last week and so I thought I had better make use of them for Janice's card which is coming up really soon. 

I thought of using kraft for the base so I had to choose between the kraft paper pad and the Romantica one. I was drawn towards red and black so I chose Romantica. 

 After deciding on the papers and color palette, I started on the actual card. The base measures 4 1/2" x 5 3/4". I had to work on the front of the card separately before adhering it onto the base. I distressed the edges of the black board paper and the patterned papers then adhered the red patterned paper onto the black board paper. The other sheets of patterned paper were placed inside the base of the card.

I stenciled on the middle part of the paper and added glass beads before splattering some ink on the surface. (I let each layer dry first of course.) I affixed the wooden embellishment and attached the paper flowers and beads. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of black board paper and put a brad on one end to add some interest. After which, I adhered it on top of the wooden embellishment. I glazed the paper flowers with metallic paint. Lastly, I put some crystals to complete the look. 

It was done just like that! Heh. I will be working on another mixed media card next and then on two box cards. Thanks for looking today! Have a wonderful weekend!

CANVAS# HPJ-2017-05: 12 June 2016

I used one of our pictures from our Bolinao trip as the focal point.

Basically, I used the same techniques that I use on my art journal spreads. I don't think I will ever tire of them. I have new projects in mind that would use the same techniques. Hehe. CANVAS # HPJ-2017-03: Life Is Good

Hi again! What I am going to share next is a triptych. It's a work of art that is divided into three sections (in this case, three canvases). I have been hooked with the techniques I am using with my art journal spreads that I have employed them on canvas as well. I still haven't gotten over the splatter technique yet and I don't think I will ever be. You will see for yourself when you check my next posts. Hehe.

For this triptych, I used pink and blue as the main colors. My new distress stains (in shades of blue) have arrived during this time so I made use of them for the project. 

First, I coated the canvases with gesso. Afterwards, I stenciled on the surface with light molding paste (I ran out of molding paste. TT.TT) I then proceeded with the stamping. I stamped like mad! Hah. Then I added the first two colors (light cream and light pink) using watered down liquid pearls. I found that they are permanent when dry and whatever liquid material you put on top of it would not smudge the original layer. Great! Lastly, I added the blue elements using distress stains. 

I adhered a journaling card on the first canvas, a postcard on the second one and another journaling card and a diecut with a pin button on the third one for the focal points. I forgot about the stains being water reactive so they smudged a bit when I brushed some micro pearls. Gad. I never learned because the same thing happened on my second triptych and on the fifth canvas. Hmph. 

I love the subtle shades of pink and blue on this project. I thought of putting some other embellishments, but decided against it in the end. It is simple yet beautiful. I hope you find it as such yourself. Thanks for stopping by today!

CARD# HPJ-2017-2: Enjoy

Hi again! This second box card is better than the previous one. Heh. I made this for one of my colleagues, Espie. (I made a criss cross card for her birthday last year.)

I just made it like I normally do when I work on mixed media box cards except that I did not use modling paste. I only layered inks. Here is what it looks like.

CARD# HPJ-2016-29: Green Birthday

Hi! This one here is a simple mixed media card. The embellishments are minimal yet there is still some texture and dimension that make it interesting. I made it for a colleague's mom. I was told that she liked it. I'm glad she did. Here it is.

The card measures 4 1/2"x5 3/4".

I can't remember exactly how much time I spent on this card, but it was really short. I used light molding paste to stencil onto the background of the card. I then distressed the edges of the papers. I adhered them onto the base afterwhich I added the embellishments. I glazed the surfaces of the embellishments with metallic acrylic paint. I stamped some text onto the background as well. I stamped the sentiment onto a black board paper and affixed it onto the card. I added a crystal as a finishing touch.

This is what the inside looks like. I adhered a piece of patterned paper whose edges I also distressed. 

I still have several projects in progress. I don't know when I'll be able to finish them. I'm super busy these days. But I'll put them up once done.

CARD# HPJ-2016-26: Pink Birthday

Hi! It has been a while since I last posted anything on this blog. I've been really busy (still am). The holidays are here and there are just a gazillion of things that I need to finish. [Sigh.] I have a couple of projects which I made weeks ago, but I couldn't manage to upload them. So here is the first one. It's another box card. I hope you stick around for the others.

What's different on this box card version that I made is the belly band. I usually use board paper or patterned paper for the band, but this time, I used a length of organza ribbon to hold the embellishments. It's pretty, but you need to make sure that it's tied really tight so it would not slip down.

CARD# HPJ-2016-25: Enjoy

Hi! Here's another late post. It's a mixed media card for a colleague's sister-in-law.

The card measures 4 1/2" x 5 3/4". 

I distressed the edges of the papers that I used for the card. Before adhering the patterned paper onto the black board paper, I stenciled on it. I then splattered ink all over the surface. After drying, I added the tag with a stamped sentiment and decorated it. I stamped on the dried molding paste as a finishing touch.

That was that. It was an easy card to make. It just took time for everything to dry, but I like how it turned out.

CARD# HPJ-2016-24: Pink Love

Hi! I had issues with our internet connection last time when I was finished with this project so I did not get to post it until I have forgotten about it. It's a trishutter card for Sam's birthday. Here it is.

The card measures 4 1/4" x 6".

I did not embellish the card that much since the papers are so pretty already. It looked so delicious I wanted to eat it. Heh. 

Basically, I just adhered patterned papers on all the panels and added the embellishments on the front part of the card. I put in some cute little hearts inside though. 

I was told the recipient loved it. Thank you! It was for a teenage girl and I originally did not know what to make for her except that it should have lots of pink since she's fond of the color. So this is what I came up with. I'm glad she loved it. I have more trishutter cards coming. I just haven't taken photos of them yet, but there are two more for my friends' birthdays. CANVAS# HPJ-2016-01: Happiness

Hello! I am so sorry I am bombarding my blog with late posts. Heh. Now is the right time to post them since my internet connection had been steady for two hours now. Woohoo! I am just so frustrated every time I try to update my SNS. It takes forever to upload anything. Ugh.

So, how are you? I haven't made anything much for the past few weeks and I don't feel good about it. I need to get my artsy fartsy groove back on and work on something, a canvas, before I get mad thinking of layouts and color schemes and what not but not actually applying them in real life. Ach. 

Two weeks ago, I couldn't let go of this thought, of using purple and blue and green for a mixed media project. I still have one canvas left but I wanted something rectangular, not a square. I went to Deovir to buy two 8"x10" canvases and a purple acrylic paint. I started on the canvas in the wee hours of the morning. Since I don't have any photos of myself or of recent group shots printed, I used one of the post cards that I bought at Landmark in one of my shopping sprees ages ago. It might not have turned out to be what I originally pictured out, but I'm happy with it just the same. I want to work on the other canvas soon. Without further ado, here is what it looks like.

 I employed the techniques I learned from Elena Morgun. The process is similar with my Remember canvas from last August. 

I coated the canvas with gesso first (even though it is already primed). I mixed a part of Liquid Pearls (Peacock) with gesso and applied the mixture on the canvas. I did the same with the purple metallic acrylic paint.  I then sponged some distress ink all over the canvas and inked the edges with Black Soot. I did some stenciling with molding paste for the bricks.

I adhered the post card into the canvas and added the embellishments one after the other. I stamped on the canvas and brushed micro pearls in some areas. I glazed the paper flowers with acrylic paint and affixed the crystals for the final touch.

I wanted to add bigger metal charms, but realized that I was only able to buy small ones from my last trip to Villalobos St. [Sigh.] I wish I went to the other shops and looked for them. Well, next time I'll definitely get a horde of them!

 The picture on the post card included several delicious colors. Aside from purple, blue and green, I also made use of orange and pink elements to make the canvas more interesting.

So how did you find this project? I hope you liked it as much as I do. It screams 'HAPPINESS', like when I craft and make pretty little things. I always lose myself into my work. The fulfillment I get during the process and after is just overwhelming. I just want to soar up high and share what I have made. I wish to make more soon. Thanks for stopping by today! CARD# HPJ-2016-16: Live Laugh Love

Hello there! Here is the third box card in the set. This was for Ate Jolly. She loves orange so I made something with elements of orange and of course some black and gold.

This is the most embellished of the three. Since I used black for the main die cut, I added a patterned paper for the background. I used bits of scrap from previous projects to build the background. Also, I added a resin embellishment. I adhered a couple of paper and silk flowers. I put in several metal charms and stamped on the paper. I then brushed some micro pearls over the embellishments. After drying, I adhered the sentiment and added the crystals as a final touch.

Since the die cut for the belly band is already ornate, I did not bother to add a punched border on the flaps of the box.

So that was that. I am so glad how the cards turned out. I was totally in the zone when I made them. Heh. My creative juices oozed out freely after weeks of not making anything. Watch out for my next post-it's a mixed media canvas. Thanks for looking!
