Hi again! You already know by now that my theme for the month of October is Chalkboard Christmas. Here is another project for the holidays.

I used the Shimelle True Stories dies to make the little bags. I wrote the sentiment on the banner diecut using a white pigment ink pen and smudged soft pastel on the surface.

And that was that. Easy, right? You can tuck a folded bill there or a pair of earrings.

DT PROJECT FOR BEE HAPPY CRAFTS: Card With Box (or Box Card)

Hello! Here is another one of my favorite projects for special occasions. It is a card with a box inside which could hold chocolates, notes and what-not for the recipient. I learned to make this from Arlene Cuevas. I stumbled upon her Youtube channel My Butterfly Kisses a few years ago and saw this tutorial she made for Graphic 45. She called it a card with box. Here is what I came up with for the DT.

I used papers from the Echo Park reflections 6"x6" paper pad for the background and embellished the front of the card with Graphic 45 flowers, gears metal charms, brads and beads. I cut a small tag from a piece of chalkboard paper and wrote 'JOY' on it.

I made a window on the lid of the box using Spellbinders circle dies and acetate. Sorry for the unevenness. I miscalculated where the holes would be. 

Stuff the box with sweet treats like these Kit Kat Rubies. Delicious!

This is the back of the card. Remember my paper bag minis? I adapted the closure for the minis here. I really don't like tucking the ribbon underneath the patterned paper because I usually forget to do it before adhering the patterned paper onto the base. I would always need to pry the paper away so I can insert the ribbon. Bah. With this closure technique that I learned from Cathy McGrath, the card becomes even prettier with the added filigree and I don't get annoyed with the mistake of adhering the paper before putting in the ribbon. Yay!

DT PROJECT FOR BEE HAPPY CRAFTS: Tent Card

Hello! I made another card. If you have checked my posts from last year, I made a bunch of these last Christmas. I am going to make them again this year as commissioned by a friend.

I just love this card fold. It is really cute when all is done. You can check out a tutorial by Beate Johns at the Splitcoaststampers site. 

I followed Beate's instructions in making the card, but I did not put a sticker or any embellishment on the window like I usually do with tent cards. What I did was to write on a piece of chalkboard stack and attach it on the inside of the card where it could be seen on the window clearly. I just affixed some crystals to add more interest to it. As simple as that, I was able to make one pretty card. Why don't you try it? It is fast and easy to make and they are just so cute when finished.

DT PROJECT FOR BEE HAPPY CRAFTS: Easel Card With Drawer

Hi again! Here is another Christmas project. It is perfect for small gift items. If you're interested on how to make one, there is a video tutorial done by Lady Lee on her Youtube channel Digital Delights. It has all the measurements that you would need should you intend to make one (or a couple).

You can put in some chocolates or a small gift inside the drawer.

My base is black. I used papers from various collections. I don't usually use papers from only one collection when making a project.

For the easel card, I distressed a piece of designer paper and adhered it onto the card base. I added a length of lace trimming before putting a die cut over it. The die cut was inked and stamped and it was adhered onto the card with foam tape for dimension. Then I glued a resin frame which I decorated with gold stamen at the center of the die cut.

I attached a metal charm on the drawer and adhered a pearl to make the pull tab. Why didn't I think of this before? The pull tab is really cool. I just love it!

As for the stopper, I made a die cut out of the DCWV chalkboard stack and wrote the sentiment. I smudged the soft pastel all over the surface for added effect and adhered crystals as a finishing touch.

DT PROJECT FOR BEE HAPPY CRAFTS: Christmas Tags

Hello! I've made a set of Christmas tags using the journaling cards that came in the package.

If you look at the back, there is enough space to write some message for the recipient.

I was inspired by Elena Morgun's Tags Tutorial. I love the layering and the use of gel mediums! The ones that she made in the tutorial were nautical. 

Mine are supposed to be for Christmas so I used some scraps from my other projects and some embellishments from my stash to make the tags Christmas-y. Here is what I came up with.

I cut tags out of the journaling cards and punched the holes where the twines would go in. To make one tag, I adhered two of the cut journaling cards. The front part has the pattern while the back part has the lines for writing the message.

Just like what Elena did, I layered several bits of scrap paper, die cuts, stickers, charms and what-not. I just went crazy with it. I brushed the surface with glass bead gel medium and I also added gold micro pearls on some areas to make them interesting.

CRAFT SUPPLIES

Hi there! I'm going to share the supplies that I bought a couple of weeks ago. The gel mediums are great! I've used them on my projects and I really like how they turned out. There is one other medium that I want to have though. It's the Golden Crackling Paste. I hope to have it soon.

Anyway, I also bought gesso. I was working on a box for a mini when I ran out of gesso. I was using Reeves then and I liked the rough finish, but unfortunately, the store where I got it did not have any stock available. [Sigh.] I really need it so I looked for other brands. I found Pebeo in a 500mL jar. I haven't tried this brand before (for gesso) so I didn't have any idea as to what the finish would be. It turned out to be smooth which is the exact opposite of Reeves, but I quite like it. What just disturbed me was the Modge Podge. I should not have bought the Luster one even if I couldn't have the matte. It was so sticky even when it dries that I want to make another box for the mini. It sort of ruined everything. Tsk. I think I will just buy the bigger bottle next time so the supply would last longer. Hmf.

DT PROJECT FOR BEE HAPPY CRAFTS: Countdown to Christmas

Hello again! I've been quite busy these past few weeks that I was not able to update my blog nor my other SNS accounts. This project was for the month of October. I still have several projects to be posted after this for the previous months. I hope that you check them out as well.

I  did this ages ago, but I only had the time to post it now. I still have a bunch of burlap stack from September and I wanted to alter another canvas. In order to fit with the theme for October, I made it a home decor--a sort of countdown to Christmas. I used one of the papers from Tim Holtz Menagerie Paper Stash with a pretty bird on it which is redolent of the previous month's main 'object'. 

Then I added a piece of chalkboard stack where I could write the number of remaining days before Christmas. 

I really love how it turned out. The steps in making it are really simple. I covered the canvas with burlap. I used hot glue to adhere it onto the canvas. I stenciled on the frame. I added the designer paper to cover the center of the frame. I then affixed the embellishments. I punched a hole on a diecut out of a piece of chalkboard stack and attached a hook to it so it could hang onto the flourish.
