CARD# HPJ-2017-01: Bam!

Hi there! I don't know if there are or if there is someone who actually reads what I post here, but I still want to write and share what I do. Here is the first card I made this year. I am not that proud of this one, but this is what I came up with after cramming.

I don't have papers with superhero designs or anything close. I just gathered images from Google to make the background and printed it at work. Heh. I had to re-adjust the measurements because the paper was slightly smaller than an 8 1/2"x11" sheet. Gad. I am mathematically challenged so it took me forever to make the correct measurements and botched several bond papers in the process.

I pre-cut the die cuts at home. I just adhered the 'Superman' logo on a die cut and added it to the belly band to close the box.

The box card looks plain but I could not do anything more since I had to finish it before the birthday celebrant arrived for the surprise. I'll do better next time. AND I better collect superhero-themed papers and embellishments for future projects.

CARD# HPJ-2017-2: Enjoy

Hi again! This second box card is better than the previous one. Heh. I made this for one of my colleagues, Espie. (I made a criss cross card for her birthday last year.)

I just made it like I normally do when I work on mixed media box cards except that I did not use modling paste. I only layered inks. Here is what it looks like.

I thought against glazing the embellishments.  I made do with just the layering of inks and embellishments. I hope you like it. Thanks for looking!

CANVAS # HPJ-2017-02: Soar

Hi! Here is the second canvas I made last January. It is a canvas version of my art journal birthday spread. I still haven't gotten over my blue and green phase.

Anyway, here it is. It's a 9"x12" canvas.

I inked the canvas with distress ink pad. I  then stenciled with molding paste. After drying, I stamped several texts and scripts. I used glimmer mist to add more color to the background and splattered some of it. I adhered the sentiment which I handwrote on pieces of board paper at the top part of the canvas. I adhered the framed photo and the wooden wings next.

That was that. It was easy to make, but it took some time for everything to dry. Thanks for looking today! I hope you check on my other posts.

CANVAS # HPJ-2017-01: Wonder

Hi! How are you? I caught a vicious cold a few days after getting back to work in January so I was not able to make that many projects. I hated it, but I tried to bear with it.

Anyway, I was able to make two canvases during the long weekend of January 16th. Gad. I had fever and I ached all over for two days. I only managed to start the first canvas on the third day. Tsk.

Here is the first one that I came up with. I didn't like the base that much. It is just too glossy. I'll try black gesso some other time (when I have extra cash to buy a jar. It's a bit pricey.)

After the acrylic paint dried, I stenciled with light molding paste. Then I inked the surface with distress ink. I then stamped some text onto the bottom part of the canvas using a Brilliance pigment ink. I splattered metallic paint onto the canvas. I added the embellishments and glazed them with Liquid Pearl. I embossed some more text at the bottom and added some micro pearls. I adhered the paper flowers and the crystals as finishing touch.

I didn't like the gloss of the base much, but I think it still turned out fine. How do you find it? Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks for looking!

JANUARY CRAFT HAUL

Hello! March is almost here yet I have only started posting on my blog. I actually drafted several posts last January, but my laptop is in a coma. Ugh. I didn't get to finish them. So here I am trying to catch up.

First off is the craft haul for January. I had ordered twice from Bee Happy Crafts. The first package included the following:

The cute pen is a freebie that came with the package.

I'm happy with this haul because I finally got my hands on a Crop-A-Dile eyelet setter. Yay! It came in handy when we made name tags for Benot's nautical-themed party. I haven't played with it much, but I will one of these days.

Take a guess of what one of my major projects for this year will be. Heh. It is pretty obvious I must say. Well, I'll start a Project Life album documenting our travels and happy moments last year. I just have to get a printer and a binder to get it going. Woohoo! I'm so excited!

On the other hand, I hoarded some brushes to use on my canvases and art journal. I've been waiting for NBS to get new stocks. Gad. It took them forever to re-stock. I can't use the other ones they have. Apart from being too expensive, the bristles are not to my liking. They are not for the projects I am thinking of. I am just too particular with the tools and supplies I use. I'm glad they have new ones because I plan on working on my spreads every weekend. Ooh. Speaking of which, my gesso and molding paste are almost out. I'll need to save up for them. They are not cheap. [Sigh.]

Next up is a bunch of pin buttons. I only saw eight designs which I could use for future projects.

The last set would be for some more journaling cards and four bottles of distress stain (and a free coloring book which I gave to my sister). Ate Maggie and I shared two sets of journaling cards. They are so lovely.

As for the distress stains, they work great on my notebook. I wish I had more of them. I think I will get the spray stains next for the colors I don't have.

You'll see them used in my art journal spreads on the next posts. I hope you check them out. Thanks for stopping by!
